Project Description
RDM International, Inc., as the Prime consultant, performed civil engineering design services for a geometric evaluation of the current taxiway connectors and an analysis of the functional and structural pavement evaluations to provide an understanding of the pavement distresses observed on pavements within the proposed work areas. RDM performed astudy utilizing FAA standards to determine and resolve “hot spot” areas on the airfield. RDM performed Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) across the entire airport and performed a full pavement survey. Multiple taxiway connectors provide direct access from apron locations to at least one of the two runways. The airport requested rehabilitation the taxiway pavements and pavement shoulders while correcting non-standard geometry in accordance with FAA standards. This involved a review of, and changes to airfield signage and lighting components.
RDM prepared the Construction Safety Phasing Plans and FAA 7460 for this project. A rehabilitation of the General Aviation ramp was included. This required intricate project phasing to maintain access for FBO and other tenants using the ramp while maintaining drainage patterns around the hangars. RDM designed all geometry, pavement repairs and performed all requested cost analyses.
